Apple MacBook Air MB003LL/A 13.3″ Laptop Review
April 25, 2008
PC’s were the only computers I used for fun and for work. Although I hated Windows, and Linux was a bit too crazy for me, I never thought of trying an Apple computer. I have no idea why. I mean, I knew they existed but I just never got around to it. I guess I thought of them as being entry level computers. Yeah, well… I was wrong.
I hear so much hype about the MacBook Air laptops that I had to check on out for myself. What I found was the most amazing laptop I have ever seen. Let’s put it this way, I used to say that my next laptop was going to be an Alienware laptop but not anymore. Now, my next laptop will be a MacBook.
I know, I am deserting Windows and after it’s given me so much! All of those late nights, sweating over the keyboard, trying to get an application that worked earlier in the day, which suddenly stopped working, to run again. Oh, an all of those lovely blue backgrounds that it randomly displays for me while I’m in the middle of something important and then considerately reboots my computer for me!
Yeah, well. You just have to try this MacBook! You will switch to! Plus, this thing is thin! It’s just 0.76 inch at its thickest point and 0.16 inch at its thinnest point. How nuts is that! Also, it only weighs 3.0 pounds so it’s not a burden to carry around.
Just because it’s small does not mean it’s missing any features. It’s locked and loaded with a 13.3-inch widescreen LED display, built-in iSight camera, 2GB of RAM, 80GB hard drive, and a powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4MB L2 Cache. Plus, you get a cool backlit keyboard with keys that automatically illuminates from behind in low-light conditions.
The MacBook Air also comes preloaded with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system which includes 300 new features over the old version. Plus, Leopard’s new desktop includes the redesigned 3D Dock with Stacks, which is a new way to organize files for quick and easy access. It’s simply amazing.
The bottom line here is that my PC laptop is leaving. Because after using the MacBook Air, there is no way I can ever use a PC Laptop again. However, it will never replace my desktop which I am sad to say will be running Windows for a long time to come because I am an avid PC gamer. Maybe one day if Apple makes a desktop as sweet as the MacBook, I might give up PC’s altogether. But since that day is not here yet, I’ll stick with the best for now, the MacBook Air.
