You can rest assured that this little camera will be able to capture enough detail for photo-quality 15 x 20-inch prints. There is a little bit of noise at higher ISO levels but then again, you are talking a sub $200 camera. You are getting image stabilization and 7.1 mega pixels that bring a great amount of clarity to this camera.

Conclusion

Overall, the Canon PowerShot A570 IS is a solid compact camera that offers a lot of value for your money. Although we were a bit disappointed with it’s noise at high ISO setting you will still be hard pressed to find a compact camera with all of these features, at a price like this.

The 5 Biggest Mistakes People Make When Buying a High Definition TV

Buying a high-definition TV is complicated. You may hear many technical terms and it can get confusing. Even so, you need to make sure you understand what you are buying before you buy it right? Because if you don’t, you will end up disappointed, frustrated or with a bad case of buyers remorse. And of course, you don’t want that. You just want a nice TV!

So, let me show you the common mistakes buyers make when purchasing a high-definition TV so that you will not make the same mistakes.

1.) Which Picture Looks The Best

This is the most common mistake people make. They go to the store, find the TV with the best picture and purchase it. Plain and simple. Well, it’s usually not so simple when they get home and they find out that it does not have enough connections to hook up all of their entertainment devices. Or is not compatible with what they have.

Soon, they are either going through the hassle of taking the TV back or buying new equipment so that it will work with their new TV. That is a unplanned expense that could be avoided with a little research. This leads me to my next mistake.

2.) DVD, VHS, PS3, GBA, PVR

All of these devices listed above are something that will hook up to your TV. Knowing how many devices you will need to connect to your TV and how they will need to be connected is key. Make sure you identify what connection type the device uses.

Here is a helpful example:

If you have a cable with a yellow end on it then you have what is commonly called composite or RCA connections. This is pretty much on every device on the planet I think. DVD players, PVR’s, VHS players, etc.

If you have 3 wires green, blue, red then you have what is called component video. This is found on DVD players and PVR’s mostly.

If you have a cable that comes in your house from the cable company, that type of wire connection it is also called a coax connection. It is also found on DVD players, VHS and PVR’s.

If you have a connection with 24 pins in it you probably have a DVI connection. This is mostly found in 1080i HD Receivers, TV’s and DVD players.

If you have a connection that looks like a USB port but bigger then you have a HDMI connection. This is the most common high definition connection seen on most current devices.

Don’t forget, not only should you document how many connections you will need your TV to accept but you will also need to write down which type of connections your new TV will need.

3.) Letting a Salesperson Decide for You

Many people trust the opinion of a salesperson when making large purchases. You would assume the would know more than you. I mean, they sell the things right? Actually, if you think about it, with the many different models and brands that they have to keep up with, how could they really be an expert in anything? Plus, they usually make a commission off of your sale. Most of them don’t even care if you like it or not, they just want to make the sale.

Then you get it home, and find, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Or maybe they are trying to clear out old stock and sold you last years model.

Research is key. Trusting a salesperson with your purchase could burn you in the long run. A few moment invested online searching through reviews and consumer reports could save you from making a huge mistake.

4.) Don’t Buy a No-Name Brand TV

Just because it is cheap does not mean you are getting a good deal. In fact the rule of thumb is you get what you pay for usually. Now, I’m not saying that a good deal can’t be found, thats part of what comparison shopping is all about. But, if you have never heard of the company before there is probably good reason.

Your sales person may try to tell you that they are all manufactured in the same plant and that they just rename them. Sometimes this is true. Sometimes it is not.

Remember you don’t have to make a purchase right that second. Take a pen and paper with you to the store. Write down the models and brands that you liked which also had enough hookups for your current devices, and go home and research them. Find the best one out of the bunch and get that one.

Plus, you may find a better deal online anyway. I mean, you have already seen the TV so you can comparison shop online. However, use caution. Only buy from a retailer that you have heard of like Best Buy or Circuit City. If something went wrong with your TV you don’t want to try and return it or get it fixed through Joe’s TV Shack.

5.) Poor Budgeting for Peripherals

It’s just like the “batteries not included” label on an flashlight package. It does not come with everything you need to get going right out of the box and neither does your TV.

You may need DVI or HDMI cables for your devices. You would not think cables could be very expensive but start pricing them now. They will add up very quickly. Especially high quality cables.

You may also need a TV stand or wall mount. You may want better sound to expand your high-definition experience and want to purchase a home theater system. Also, if you want to have your cable or satellite signal in high definition then you will need to add additonal costs per month to your cable bill. Whatever you need plan ahead. If not you could soon be spending way more than you initially bargained for just to get your TV and devices functional again.

Social Bookmarking Goes to the Bank

You have heard the buzz. Web 2.0, Social Bookmarking, Community based voting system, etc. These are all terms of the next generation of Internet based browsing. No longer is it just a click to Myspace to interact with people, you now have options. Now we can interact with people and have user input for, news, bookmarks, pictures, videos, shopping, etc. The web has turned and is headed to a more community driven environment where everyone interacts and has a say on what is hot or not.

Enter a new way for advertisers to reach their audience! Good for them, not so good for web surfers. But, thats the way the web world goes around. I have already been taken to a page which I thought was a legitimate users page but instead was a sales page on squidoo. Of these web 2.0 sites some will be legit and some will just slap you with a sales page.

It’s annoying when you are trying to find non sales copy but remember some of these sales pages have good information on what you are looking for. Now, on the other hand, maybe you could use your squidoo lens or HubPages page to market a product or service. Or just make some extra cash on some affiliate sales. Either way, the web as you knew it is leaving us behind to make way for the next generation.

I have even heard rumor that within the next year Google will be revamping their search results to include multimedia, blogs and such and will rank a site higher if they include such things like podcasts and video’s. Like I said, just a rumor so don’t freak out just yet.

This is the evolution of the web. We are moving away from information pages and into social interaction. Just look at Digg, Twitter, Delicious and such.

If you are a internet marketer then you can see the hot points of migrating your content to a more web 2.0 driven delivery system. On the other hand, if users have the option to vote your content up or down in value, then you will not be able to force the user to view your content if they don’t want to. That means you will have to put more work in good quality content which is great for the user. They are getting quality over quantity. Yes, a little more work for you but the benefits are far greater.

Let’s face it. It sucks when you are directed to a static web page where you get a sales page with little to no information on it. It looks like something you would expect in a spam email. So, if Google decides that content rich pages which have user opinions and votes will matter more than a static sales page, and ranks it higher, you will have a better web browsing experience and get more out of your time spent online.

I think the way things are headed is a step in the right direction both for the browser and the web marketer. This should help the browser avoid pages filled with Adwords content and get more quality information when they are looking for something. Also, with web marketers like myself, it will weed out the quick buck mentality and frustrate all those who set up keyword rich Adwords pages. Maybe they will give up and make way for the web marketer who actually is trying to provide a quality product or service to their users instead of making a quick buck.

Part 1 - Great tools for web marketing: Keywords

I just wanted to share with you some of the wonderful web marketing tools I have found online. All of the sites listed are not needed to market your website if you have a ton of money. But for those of us that don’t have wads of cash laying around, this is for you. And best of all, they are free tools!

First lets start with keywords. Keywords are what links your site to the search engines. If you don’t have the keywords somehow embedded in your website then when the search engines spider your site, they wont list your site when someone searches for that keyword.

Take for instance a game site. If someone searches for “buy playstation 2 games” in google and your site does not have some or any of the keywords either in links or text of some sort then Google will have no reason to list your site as being relative to those search terms.

Likewise, if you are selling car parts for instance then you have no reason to embed the words “Brittany Spears” in your site. It’s not relevant and the search engines frown upon this. Because after all, relevancy is what they are all about!

So all of that being said, make sure your keywords are relevant and are embedded in your site somehow if you expect to be listed. There is a fine line, so don’t have a full page of text of the same keyword. I’m not an expert at search engine marketing by any means, and for more information do a search for “SEO” or “search engine optimization” for better information.

Just remember, don’t use small words like for instance with the game site before. If your meta keywords are “games” then guess what, all the big boys like Walmart, EBgames and such will beat you out in the search results and you will be at the bottom of the pile. Try something like “New video games for sale” or something of that nature so that you are more likely to list higher in the search results for those keywords.

This is where research of the best keywords to use comes in handy. If you randomly pick something you may not have a very high search volume and only get a few visitors out of it. But, if you pick a good keyword after researching the best terms, and that keyword has tons of monthly searches and you get listed high in the search results, then you are going to be loving life!

Now, the tools I have promised to share, here they are below:

Overture - Which is now Yahoo Marketing is one of the best PPC services on the net. But wait you say, what about free? Ahh yes, they have a wonderful tool in case you don’t have an advertising budget yet, and it’s called Keyword Selector Tool. It’s free and it helps you find the best keywords for your site. Search for a generic term and let it break it down for you. It will even tell you how many times that term was searched for in the last month so you will know whether or not to bother with it. It’s very helpful.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool - Yes, Google owns the planet. But, they do have some nifty little tools for free. This is one that you don’t wont to overlook. Just like Overture, this site lets you search for a keyword and then get similar keywords, search volume per month, plus how much competition you have with other advertisers! Thats very helpful if you want to use Adwords for marketing.

SEOquake - This is a plugin for IE and FireFox browser which I don’t know how any webmaster could live without. When you visit a website it tells you the sites, PR rank, Links in Google, Yahoo, etc., Alexa Rank, Age, and I could keep on going. even though all of these things are valuable we are just talking keywords right? Yep, so there is one great piece to this, and it’s named simply, Density on the SEOquake toolbar. It’s keywords density and if you click on it, it will open up a page and display all keywords and keyword phrases it finds on that site. So, you type in your site in the web browser. Click on Density on the SEOquake toolbar. Then, once the page has loaded and you can see all the keywords that your site contains, there is a hyper link thats says Load Google Keywords Data. This lets you load data just like from the Adwords tool but it’s just for the keywords found on your site. And, it will list search volume and advertiser competition. This is a truly awesome tool!
